Vintage 20s Beaded Sautoir Necklace

70.00

This necklace is a perfect example of a 1920s flapper sautoir necklace. A sautoir necklace is a long necklace that holds a pendant or a tassel on the end and was very popular during the flapper era in conjunction with the Charleston to exaggerate the forms of the movements. These were often made in France and given as souvenirs by American soldiers returning home after the great war. It is a hand-loomed piece, made up of small glass beads that are cool to the touch.

It features a geometric, almost tapestry-like pattern in shades of opaque white, forest green, navy blue and amber orange. It is in fantastic vintage condition. The necklace measures 18.75 inches when laid flat, end to end. The width of the 'pendant' detail is 1.9 inches.
